When your loved one can't sit up for the trip

Some patients simply can't ride in a wheelchair or a car seat — after certain surgeries, with advanced illness, or when they're bedbound, they need to travel lying flat and fully supported. A 911 ambulance is expensive and reserved for emergencies. That leaves families stuck, wondering how to safely move someone for a transfer or a discharge.

That's exactly the gap Harbor Grove fills. Our stretcher-equipped vehicles and trained crew handle the lift, the securement, and the ride with patience and care — treating your family member the way we'd want our own to be treated.

Questions

Gurney transport FAQs

What's the difference between gurney transport and an ambulance?
An ambulance is for emergencies and provides medical care en route. Gurney (stretcher) transport is non-emergency — it safely moves a patient who must lie down between locations without the cost or urgency of a 911 ambulance. For emergencies, always call 911.
Who is stretcher transport for?
Patients who can't sit upright or transfer to a wheelchair safely — bedbound individuals, those recovering from surgery, hospice patients, and residents being moved between hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, or home.
Can you handle facility-to-facility and longer-distance transfers?
Yes. We regularly move patients between hospitals, rehab centers, and skilled nursing facilities across the Treasure Valley, and can arrange longer-distance medical transport. Call 208-297-3601 to discuss the route.
How is gurney transport priced?
Stretcher transport is quoted as a base rate plus mileage, given up front with no surprises. We serve private-pay clients and bill facilities directly.
